An AI meeting assistant that never joins your call

Updated November 2, 2026

Meeting bots record your call and summarize it afterwards, as a participant everyone can see. incogno works differently: it runs on your own computer, never appears in the meeting, and helps while the conversation is still happening.

The problem with meeting bots

Most AI notetakers work by sending a bot into your call. It appears in the participant list with a name like “Notetaker”, it often needs the host to let it in, and everyone in the meeting can see it.

  • It changes the room. An extra attendee that records everything makes clients and guests more guarded.
  • It gets removed. Hosts remove participants they don’t recognize, waiting rooms hold them, and some organizations don’t allow recording bots at all.
  • It helps after the call. A bot records and summarizes. It can’t answer a question you’re asked in the middle of the meeting.

How a bot-free assistant works

incogno is a desktop app for Mac and Windows. Instead of joining the call, it listens to the meeting audio your computer is already playing, turns it into real-time meeting notes, and answers your questions in a small overlay that only you can see.

Since nothing joins the meeting, there’s nobody for the host to admit and no extra name in the participant list. It works the same way in Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex and Slack Huddles, because it never has to connect to the call itself.

incogno never captures your microphone. It transcribes the call audio your computer plays, which is what the other participants say.

What happens to the audio

Meeting audio streams over an encrypted connection to our speech-to-text providers for live transcription, and the raw audio is never stored. Transcripts are kept only if you save a summary, and you can delete them anytime. The full data path is on our Security page, and every provider we use is listed on Subprocessors.

No bot doesn’t mean no consent

A bot announces itself. A desktop assistant doesn’t, so the responsibility moves to you: if your organization’s policy or the law where you or your participants are requires telling people that AI is transcribing or assisting, tell them. incogno keeps your notes private. It doesn’t replace that conversation.
