An AI interview assistant for the interviews you conduct

Updated November 2, 2026

Running an interview means listening, judging and planning your next question at once, while also taking notes. incogno takes the notes and keeps the full answer in front of you, so you can pay attention to the person you’re talking to. It works as an AI interview copilot and note taker for whoever is asking the questions, whether it’s a behavioral interview or a technical interview.

What it does while you interview

  • Transcribes the candidate’s answers live. incogno transcribes the call audio your computer plays, which in an interview is what your candidate says. It never captures your microphone.
  • Answers your questions about the conversation. Ask “what did they say about the migration timeline?” or “suggest a follow-up on their design trade-offs”, and it answers with the interview so far as context.
  • Knows what you’re hiring for. Add the job description, your scorecard or your question bank to its knowledge base so its suggestions match the role.
  • Reads what the candidate shares. On the Pro plan, incogno can use what’s on your screen, such as code or a diagram the candidate is sharing, as context.
  • Keeps a summary for your scorecard. Save a summary when the interview ends, then write up your feedback from it.

Why a desktop assistant instead of a meeting bot

A notetaker bot joins the call as an extra participant, which candidates notice and often find off-putting at the start of an interview. incogno runs on your own Mac or Windows PC instead, so nothing joins the call and it works in whichever meeting app your team uses: Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex or Slack Huddles. There’s no admin integration to set up.

If you share your screen to walk through a take-home task, stealth mode keeps your notes and prompts off the shared screen. How stealth mode works.

Also for research, media and podcast interviews

  • User researchers: keep a participant’s exact words in front of you and ask for the themes so far before you choose your next probe.
  • Journalists and podcasters: keep your guest’s last answer on screen while you plan the next question, and save a summary for the write-up.

Be upfront with the people you interview

Tell candidates and guests that you use AI to take notes, and follow the recording and consent rules that apply to you and to them. Some places also regulate AI tools used in hiring decisions, such as New York City’s law on automated employment decision tools. incogno is built to help you listen and take notes, not to score or rank candidates, so keep those decisions with people.

Raw audio is never stored, and transcripts are kept only if you save a summary. See our Security page for the full data path.
